A$AP Rocky in jail: Surveillance video of rapper’s gun shown in court
On Wednesday, November 9, 2023, A$AP Rocky (real name Rakim Myers) appeared in a Los Angeles court for a preliminary hearing in his gun assault case.
The prosecutor’s workplace surveillance footage showed the rapper holding a semi-automatic handgun and possibly arresting Efron after a “heated argument” in Hollywood, California.
The video, released for the first time during the hearing, comes after the rapper pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault with a firearm in August 2022.
Efron, who filed a civil suit against Rock on August 10, 2022, for assault, battery and infliction of emotional distress, claimed he was hit by bullet fragments after an argument and said in court that he had recovered from his injuries at a New York hospital. Medical help was sought.
A photo of Efron’s minor injuries shown in court showed small patches of raw, bloody skin on the knuckles of the index, middle and ring fingers of his left hand.
Efron confirmed that he and Rocky were childhood friends and went to school together in New York. He said that their relationship became strained when Rocky achieved solo success and became “a big adventurer”.
He also said Rocky failed to help financially, including with the funeral of his friend and mob member A$AP Josh, who died in October 2021.
Rocky’s attorney, Joseph Tacopina, denied all claims and noted that Rocky paid for Josh’s funeral in full.

He also claimed that the video did not show Rocky shooting Efron, but pulling the gun from him.
He suggested that Efron was lying about his accidents and was motivated by jealousy and ingratitude.
Rihanna’s boyfriend A$AP Rocky appears in court on gun charges
The Rock’s legal troubles come as he enjoys fatherhood with partner Rihanna, 35.
The couple, who have been in a relationship since 2019, have two sons, RZA, 18 months, and Riot Rose, three months. Their second child was born in August this year.
Rock was arrested at LAX Airport in April 2022 while returning from a trip to Barbados with Rihanna, who was pregnant with her first child at the time.
Police arrested him at the airport, and Rock’s attorney Alan Jackson confirmed that the arrest is related to the November 2021 shooting.
When Rock arrived in court on Wednesday, he was wearing dark sunglasses and a face mask.
Wearing a dark suit and white shirt, he looked quiet and somber in court, but after the hearing he appeared happy chatting with fans and signing autographs outside the building.
Rock is expected to go to trial next year. If found guilty, he faces up to eight years in prison.
